Medvedev says Russia, Belarus not ready for single currency

MOSCOW, Jan 28 (PRIME) -- Integration between Russia and Belarus is not adequate for introduction of a single currency, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview released on Friday.

"The level of integration is insufficient so far… We should deal with it as we advance on our integration track an opportunity to introduce a single currency may appear," Medvedev said.

He said that a united currency is not a solution for economic issues, but rather a consequence of economic homogeneity.
